About the Session

Culture and heritage play a vital role in shaping sustainable societies. They represent not only the traditions, values, and identities of communities but also important economic and social resources that can support long-term development. In the context of sustainable peace and growth, cultural heritage can serve as a foundation for inclusive economic activities, responsible tourism, and community-based enterprises. This session aims to explore how cultural and heritage assets can be integrated into modern business models while preserving their authenticity and social value. Discussions will focus on the role of cultural industries, heritage-based tourism, traditional crafts, and local knowledge systems in creating sustainable livelihoods. The session will also highlight how principles of the circular economy such as reuse, regeneration, and responsible consumption can be applied to heritage conservation and cultural enterprises.

By bringing together scholars, practitioners, and policymakers, the session seeks to examine how cultural heritage can contribute to economic resilience, environmental responsibility, and social harmony. The broader objective is to understand how heritage-driven initiatives can support sustainable peace while generating opportunities for responsible business growth.
