Dr. Sunil Rai currently serves as the Chancellor of the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES), Dehradun. With over 42 years of professional experience spanning the Indian Navy, academia, and the corporate sector, Dr. Rai is a seasoned leader known for his visionary approach to institutional transformation and education innovation. His academic journey includes leadership roles such as Vice Chancellor of MIT ADT University Pune, Director at Maharashtra Information Technology Corporation (MITC), and senior academic and administrative positions at prestigious universities across India.

An alumnus of IIT Bombay and BITS Pilani, Dr. Rai holds a Ph.D. in Business Continuity Management, an M.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering, and multiple advanced degrees in management and marine engineering. His interdisciplinary background, combined with his focus on technology-enabled, people-driven change, has significantly contributed to enhancing the quality, reach, and impact of higher education institutions under his leadership.

As the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Sustainable Peace and Growth, Dr. Rai provides strategic direction and intellectual leadership. His commitment to academic excellence and sustainable development ensures that the journal serves as a credible platform for original, high-impact research focused on peacebuilding, inclusive growth, and long-term sustainability. Under his guidance, the journal aspires to bridge the gap between scholarly research and practical solutions that address global and regional challenges.
